Pax Romana - a Finnish progressive rock band, was formed in early 1970. Like many of the progressive rock bands at that time, we were full of idealism and musical ambitions. The band was active for a five or six years in various formations, but due to lack of opportunities and studies the band just died out - or that’s what everybody thought back then.
In 2002, now living our lives in different parts of Finland and Europe for that matter, we met again with an idea of re-building the band for just a few gigs and having fun. We did and few beers might have been involved. Gigs went and we realised, that much of what we stood for back in 70 ´s is still very much prevailing. We also realised that new material came out easily and the Pax Romana sound - melodic, rough and relaxed rock sound - was re-vitalized, simplified, re-energized and still very much unique. So we decided to make an album and a second and ... The journey goes on.
Much has happened to the 15 year old guys - we have grown up, studied, had a career, become fathers - having slowly become a bit humble to the facts of life. In fact, someone could boldly say, we have become wiser, but then again, who knows. Anyway, from all of this comes the spirit of Pax Romana - partly sad, partly philosophic, partly astonished, partly agressive but mostly joyful. It all can be found in our songs.
This is Pax Romana - more living than ever with the rough melodic sound – proud of what we are- thankful of what we have been allowed to experience and happy to express that in our music.
